The Cottage
Holt is a great little Georgian town, ideal for a break at any time of year. There is so much to see and do, from stately homes to sandy beaches, birdwatching to surfing. Holt has just as miuch to do 'out of season' with a great selection of independent shops, boutiques, art galleries, craft shops, deli's, pubs, restuarants and tea rooms. Be prepared to experience England much as it was 50 years ago!
Jim's Cottage is a traditional, mid-Victorian, brick and flint workman's cottage in a quiet cul-de sac adjacent to the Holt Country Park, but only a short walk to the centre of the town. It retains much of its original charm with uneven plaster, stripped wooden doors, oak floors, open fireplace and steep stairs. However, it has a fully fitted kitchen, bathroom and gas central heating.
Downstairs
Downstairs is the lounge with wing-back chairs and leather sofa, dining suite, open fireplace, TV/video/DVD and CD player/radio. Logs for the fire are provided free of charge. One of the most frequent comments in the guest book is "every comfort".

The kitchen has a modern cooker with ceramic hob and double oven. There is a pull out table, fridge-freezer, electric cooker, microwave and toaster plus an automatic washing machine in the outhouse.

The recently refitted bathroom is also downstairs with bath, washbasin, shower and toilet. There is also a hallway large enough for a buggy, muddy boots and a coat rack.

Upstairs
Upstairs there is a small double bedroom with brass bedstead, wardrobe and chest of drawers that overlooks the garden and trees. The mattress and bedding is all excellent quality.
The second bedroom is larger with two pine single beds, a double wardrobe, Victorian washstand and a bedside table.
Outside

At the rear of the cottage is a is a path leading to the rear of the other cottages as they used to share a communal water pump. Each cottage has large brick and flint outhouse and in ours is an automatic washing machine and secure storage for bicycles, pushchairs etc.

There is also the original row of outside toilets, although the toilet has been removed from ours and it now contains logs for the fire.

There is a garden with large lawn, barbecue, flowerbeds and a patio. A hardwood picnic bench with parasol is provided and there is a rotary clothes drier. At the end of the garden is another belonging to one of the other cottages then open land.
